02 Do I need to have a partner?

No! All of our talented instructors have experience dancing with couples and singles. If you are female, we will set you up with the perfect male instructor…and if you are male, we will set you up with the perfect female instructor. Your instructor will act as your partner and teacher! In fact, majority of our students come as a single students, so don’t let not having a partner stop you from experiencing the great joy of dance!

03 What should I wear to my lesson?

Wear comfortable clothes you can move in! Shorts, yoga pants, sweats, comfy dance skirts, etc., will all work just fine! If you don’t have dance shoes, that’s alright, too! Preferably, thin-soled or leather-soled shoes are best, rather than athletic shoes, platforms, or shoes with very high heels.

04 What is a Private Lesson?

Private lessons consist of one student or one couple working with an instructor. These lessons provide the most benefit and ease for learning to dance as all material is catered to the student’s personal and individual learning abilities, goals, and desires. The standard length for a private lesson at Imperial Ballroom is 45 minutes.

05 What if I already know how to dance?

We teach all levels of dancers… from beginners to top professionals! In fact, we love students that have taken lessons at other studios because we feel that you will notice a considerable difference in our teaching style and quality instruction! We take pride in being the top ballroom studio in Arizona, and some of our most satisfied students are ones who have compared us to other studios as “superior”. If you are experienced, we won’t waste time teaching you what you already know. Rather, we will assess your personal skills and tailor your program to your own personal abilities!

06 How do I sign up?

If you have already read this far, you’re clearly interested! You can sign up by giving us a call at (480) 201-5726 to schedule your first lesson! Feel free to stop by the studio anytime between the hours of 1:00pm-9:00pm, Monday-Friday and we would be happy to answer any questions you may have!

07 How long will it take to learn?

This varies depending on your goals, number of lessons, and practice! No doubt, you will have fun on your lessons, but like all sports and art forms, there is no limit to improvement! Most social dancers feel they have built a good foundation after 6 months. After getting a good foundation, you will be able to analyze new steps and pick them up without any difficulty. Everyone has different learning abilities, so like all things, it depends on you!
